Customers FAQs
Here are a few FAQs that we often get asked, but we encourage you to contact us if you have any questions about our motorcycle tours departing from Cairns.
Can I bring my own bike?
Yes you can! However you will be responsible for all repairs and maintenance and getting it home if you have any issues.
We use Honda Transalp 750 on our tours (we also have a few Honda CRF300 Rally available for L plate riders). We bring spares and maintenance parts for these bikes. We are unable to bring spares/parts for all other motorcycle brands. The bikes that we use are appropriate for the riding situations, have been meticulously maintained by our mechanics and are in a road-worthy condition.
Do I need a motorbike licence?
Yes. All riders must have a current, valid and appropriate licence for the motorcycle. A learner’s motorcycle licence is acceptable.
How much experience do I need?
As long as you have had some experience off-road you will be fine. None of our riding situations are extreme and if you are unsure or having trouble our team is there to help you out. We also offer Pre-ride Coaching/Training to increase your confidence and skills on the bike – $290 for a ½ Day, that you can book prior to the tour.
Where do the tours start from?
Tours start and finish in Cairns at Portas Bikes and Power – 33 Anderson St, Manunda Cairns Queensland.
What do I need to pay for on tour?
You only need to bring money for souvenirs, alcoholic beverages and entertainment. All food, accommodation, fuel, park fees and permits, entry to the cave (if applicable) and non-alcoholic beverages are included in the tour.
What if I get hurt?
We know that this can happen even with the best precautions…… riding is a risk. For minor injuries – all of our guides are first aid trained and have a first aid kit. Our support vehicle carries a more comprehensive first aid kit. The guides also carry a mobile phone, radios, and GPS locator in the event of an emergency. We strongly recommend that you have medical insurance as well as your travel/personal insurance policies.
Do I have to service my bike on tour?
Nope! Our crew at Savannah Motorcycle Tours complete the maintenance required each day while you can relax with a cold drink.
What if the bike that I am riding gets damaged?
You as the renter are responsible for all damage to the motorcycle that you are riding while on tour, even if caused by someone else or the cause is unknown. Normal wear and tear (minor scratching) is expected on tour, however, if the bike is severely damaged or parts are broken, you will be charged to repair/replace the part (what it costs us only). The cost would be taken out of your security deposit up to $2,000. If damages are over the $2,000 the rider will be liable to pay the additional costs.
Can I take a passenger?
No. Our bikes are only single seat registration.
Do you have a quad bike option?
No we don’t. As some of our trails are on designated road we are unable to take unregistered vehicles on tour.
